The fire-rated glass railing can be used for vertical fire spread protection in multi-story buildings, most commonly in apartment buildings, at locations where floor-to-ceiling windows are essential for light and views, and where the fire protection is ensured by a structured frame. By aligning several glass panels side by side, it is possible to provide fire protection for larger window sections with greater width and surface area.
The structural frame of the fire-rated glass panels is a vertical steel U-profile welded to steel brackets fixed to the wall on both sides of the glass panel.
- The steel brackets should be fixed to the outer surface of the wall, before the insulation, according to drawings A, B, and C.
- For larger openings, it is possible to align multiple glass panels side by side using vertical steel columns between the glass panels, based on the Horizontal and Vertical elevation drawings.
- The fire protection strip must be insulated with a fire-resistant material (e.g., rock wool).
- The glass panels are installed after insulation and coloring.
- Vertical steel U profile: 40*25*2 mm, intermediate column 60*60*3 mm.
- Maximum glass panel size: Pyroswiss Parapet, 13 mm thick 1750×1100 mm, 17 mm thick 2250×1100 mm.
